In 2008 Mr Murphy of Chamberlain McBain set up the juniors section of the School Mock Court Case Project in Edinburgh. The junior project now spans primary schools across Central and Southern Scotland, from Ayr to Dundee.
Following the success of the junior section, the charity rolled out the project to include secondary schools in 2013. This project has also grown, with up to Senior projects set for the coming academic year, including East Scotland, Glasgow, Inverness, Ayr and Aberdeen.
The junior section is a cross-curricular project which uses a court case to encompass a range of class room subjects - from art to journalism, debating and writing skills, to name just a few. The Senior section is very academic. During 2018 the Seniors will be involved in two international competitions - New York and The Hague. At The Hague the students competed with some 14 other countries. Overall, 2018 saw the 10,000th student take part.
Chamberlain McBain are not only proud to be the principal sponsors of the charity, but also carrying out all of its administrative functions.
Every year we enlist the help of nearly 200 others, whether they be tutors, sheriffs or court officers. Both sections have end of session award ceremonies, with nearly 1,000 attending the juniors.
